Rubber Trampin’

Rubber Trampin’

by Greg Holbus

Sung to the tune of “Mr. Sandman” by the Chordettes.

Rubber trampin’… life on the road!

This van converted, I call my abode,

Drifting through towns, from one to the other,

And finding trouble with my nomad brothers!

Trampin’… life on the road!

Pick up hitchhikers, and then we get stoned,

Then we laze down by a stream,

Counting stars and watching them gleam!

Rubber trampin’… life on the road!

Modern life rushes, but my pace is slowed,

Through plains and forests, mountains and rivers,

And dazzling vistas set your soul aquiver!

Trampin’… life on the road!

Nobody with me, but my loyal dog,

Let’s crank up the radio,

And go where our hearts want to go!

Rubber trampin’… life on the road!

Down Route 66, I often have rode,

Visiting ghost towns, in the desert southwest,

Exploring vacant homes – my favorite side quest!

Rubber trampin’… life on the road!

Glorious lifestyle, one worthy this ode,

So take my word, it’s not a scheme,

Rubber trampin’ – living (really living)

Rubber trampin’ – living the dream!
